A Nice Day

My wife and I went to our local Veterans museum yesterday and I have to tell you that for a small town, it is quite an impressive place to visit. It was also very humbling to say the least. I sit here and I think, what did I do today. I had the day off, so I got up late this morning, Made some breakfast, watched some TV, went out and washed my truck. Came in and took a short nap and spent an overall nice day with my wife.

A soldier serving overseas wakes up in the morning and the first thing he thinks is I am going to try and not get killed today or watch a friend die today. I put my wallet in my pants today. A soldier puts on armor and slings a gun over his shoulder.

God forgive me when I bitch about my life. Compared to the brave men and women of our armed forces, I live on easy street. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to each and every one of our Vets....

What A Day

I am sitting here trying to do my blog and all of a sudden the shade on the window next to my computer falls down and knocks my cherry iced tea over onto my keyboard. I'm thinking oh fuck, now I don't have a keyboard and i'm pretty screwed. SO I took my keyboard off and ran it under the kitchen sink and it seems to be working fine. We'll see how it goes. That has been how my entire day has been going. Trying to keep some semblance of a smile though... Peace out...

Inspiration

I find it astonishing where one might find inspiration. I was listening to an old Isaac Freeman CD, Now for those of you who don't know who Isaac Freeman is, He is an old Black bass singer. And I mean this guy is low. I heard him singing some old gospel songs and it gave me some ideas for some riffs. Just so you all know, I am white as notebook paper. Just goes to show that inspiration is color blind. . . . . Take it where you can get it. Have a great weekend and take some time and show someone some love. You never know who's life you might touch.... Peace

Gonna Keep It Short Today.

It is about twenty minutes after 7 and I think I am going to bed in a little bit. I have been sick as a dog for the last day and a half. I have not played at all today. I know that being sick is no excuse, but it is some honest shit. I'm sorry this isn't longer today. Night

I'm Learning

A long time ago an old guitar player told me that anytime I go to buy any new gear, especially a new amp, Take some time and go to your local music shop and play as many amps as you can to find the sound you really want. This ol boy was right, I spent $500 a long time ago on an amp that I was only a little satisfied with. I bought a Vox VT100. It was a beast of an amp but lacked the low end that I was really wanting. And when I was chugging, the bottom end would wash out. I like the crisp sound when chugging. This amp would move a ton of air. Just not in the direction that I was looking for. So I have been looking for a long time and have played tons of amps. There have been several amps that I have really liked. Ones that have had the sound I am looking for. Now it is ridiculous to buy a $2000 amp when all I am doing right now is playing it in my bedroom. I really like the Egnater Rebel 30 and the Tweaker. They have a surprisingly good sound and they don't break the bank. Now if you think i'm out of my mind on looking at the Egnaters, then you are an ignorant piece of shit and I don't want you to read my blog anymore. I just think the tone they push out is incredible. I'm tired and did not get any play time today. Night

General Lessons

I talked to a guy today about taking some guitar lessons. I have been playing for a couple of years and can slam out some Metallica tunes but I feel that I have no grasp on the basics. I know the basic chords and chord progressions, but I don't know enough. I am hoping this guy can help me get to a point where I can become aq proficient player. Other news, I am about a week and a half away from getting my first paycheck at my new job. Kind of exciting as we have gone without for a while. Not much else going on right now.

I wanted to tell you that I am also part of The Tone King's forum. I try and stay active in the forum and have learned quite a bit. It is a place where people like me go and share our passions with each other. For anyone who doesn't know who the Tone King is, get on Youtube and search for The Tone King. It will blow you away how many video's this guy has. Good guitar player who does killer reviews, shoot-outs and much more... Check him out!!!

My Gear

Just wanted to give you a little run down on the gear that I use. I am the proud owner of a Dean Dave Mustaine Signature V. I run it through a Crate GT1200H on a matching Cab. I jerked the speakers out of it and replaced them with 4 GWS ET-65's... I also us a Digitech Bad Monkey and a MXR Wylde OD. They both serve their purposes. I use a Behringer tuner.

I also have a Marshall JCM 600H that needs new tubes and a lot of work. I bought it knowing it is a project. When it is done, it will be a typical Marshall beast. I will post pics and video's of my progress online soon. It was a good day, I will be buying an Egnater Rebel 20 soon. It is a killer little amp that has an immense amount of tone. Again, more updates to come...
